A Classic CONSERVATORY Replacing an original
porch – this new English Conservatory provides a year-round room for relaxation
and entertaining. This green-conscious client
asked for a geothermal system to replace their gas-fired boiler – and in the process of
updating the house, was able to warm this new space with a radiantly heated
marble slab floor.
Connected to the Living Room via original French doors, the Conservatory also became the perfect spot for casual meals while overlooking the lap-pool, extensive gardens and large stone terraces from earlier WPA renovations. The National Home Builders Association (NAHB) gave this design the Cysalis Award for Conservatory Additions. |
Artisan ironwork and teak add a special finish to the balconies and staircase from the owners’ second floor suite.
